The most important meal of the day.

My 4 year old asked me "How did you know my name?" I tried to explain that her father and I wanted to name her after our grandparents. We used the first letter of their names to pick hers, etc etc. And she asked again, "But who told you that was my name?" And it took much more convincing and explaining to get her to understand that we are not born with names, we are given them. After 3 children, 2 cats and 2 fish, I have learned naming someone is not easy. You have to come up with a word that is going to be carried with that person (or cat or fish) for a lifetime.

And that is the trouble I had with this blog. What to name it.

I started with a great name...Diary of a Hungry Housewife. I was so excited because it really described me well. Then I Googled it. Apparently, food is not what comes to mind when most people think Hungry Housewife. I had been warned by other bloggers that if your name is too close to a more risque title, you may attract an unwanted audience that is not interested in the non-bedroom aspects of being home all day with kids.

So, I have taken so long to get this going due to lack of imagination. And then I found the name I wanted (that wasn't already taken and still had meaning to my life). Bon Bons for Breakfast. It's got food in there and that myth of what people think housewives do all day while the rest of the world is at a job that actually pays! I would have called it Bon Bons for Breakfast and the View at 10:00, but that seemed too long.

And the plans I have for this blog (if only I can find the energy to get it all done!) I will be doing a cookbook review in the next few weeks after I spend some quality time in the kitchen with my girls. I will have some restaurant reviews, some successful and unsuccessful recipes and cooking experiences. I hope to have some links to great things to do in the Chicagoland area with or with out the kids. And then whatever else comes to mind.

I will try to post at least once a week as something new and exciting happens in my life. Please leave me feedback and let me know how you think I'm doing (I prefer constructive criticism and compliment over snide remarks, please leave those for me to make :P)

Thanks for reading and please enjoy Bon Bons for Breakfast!
